Summary of the Community Sponsorship Recruitment, Training, and Technical Assistance Survey
Community Sponsorship Hub and Refugee Welcome Collective co-designed the Community Sponsorship Recruitment, Training, and Technical Assistance Survey to assess and evaluate current challenges, existing resources, and additional resources for community sponsorship programs.
Community sponsorship is a growing movement across the United States. Over the past year, new and enhanced programs at the local, regional, and national level were rapidly launched in part as a response to the Biden administration’s prioritization of rebuilding and enhancing refugee resettlement through community sponsorship.
Earlier this year, Community Sponsorship Hub (CSH) and Refugee Welcome Collective (RWC) co-designed the Community Sponsorship Recruitment, Training, and Technical Assistance Survey to assess and evaluate current challenges, existing resources, and additional resources for community sponsorship programs. Findings from the survey reveal opportunities for support in the enhancement and expansion of community sponsorship programs and key challenges to address systemic needs and help enable new programs to launch and scale. For instance, responses from community sponsorship staff informed the development of the community sponsorship portal available on Welcome.US, which features the Sponsorship 101 tutorial co-developed with Welcome.US, a new community sponsorship directory for prospective sponsors developed by CSH (building off strong collaboration with Refugee Council USA), and links to the Community Sponsorship Essentials training, (co-designed by CSH, RWC, and Welcome.US), a baseline training for sponsor groups.
