For Refugees

Community sponsorship connects refugees and other forcibly displaced people with communities eager to offer them welcome, mentorship, and initial supports.

Through community sponsorship, refugees can meet new friends, better navigate their new communities, and access the social capital that supports long-term integration.

Our partners at USAHello interviewed refugees across the country about their experiences with community sponsors. Their collective knowledge and advice are shared in this video series to help prepare our newest neighbors for the experience of being welcomed through community sponsorship.

Welcome.US has tools and resources to help refugees get settled, including an Employment Exchange to help refugees search for jobs at companies interested in hiring newcomers.

The Settle In App aims to help refugees make the most of their first three months in the United States through gamified lessons in Settle In available in English, Arabic, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and Dari.

Another helpful app is Tarjimly, which is a mobile app that allows the world’s 3 billion multilingual speakers to remotely volunteer their language skills as translators and interpreters for the 65 million displaced people. Today, it is the most accessible translator service in the world.

The Community Sponsorship Hub is dedicated to growing community sponsorship in the United States.

I already love Boston because of you and the things you show me. I saw a beautiful and lovely culture in the Boston area and the best one was your friendship. Thanks, everyone, you did for me the best. Newcomer supported through a co-sponsorship program offered by Catalyst Fund grantee, JFS of Metrowest
