Community sponsorship is a whole-of-society approach to the welcome and integration of those who have been forcibly displaced. It brings neighbors together and provides a safe and humane pathway to welcome newcomers.

Ways to Welcome

Co-sponsorship

Co-sponsors volunteer at the local affiliation of one of 10 national resettlement agencies to welcome a refugee or family through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program’s “Reception and Placement” program. They provide a majority of core services, including financial and/or in-kind donations.

Welcome Corps

Private sponsor groups of 5 or more welcome a refugee or family through the Department of State’s U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. Groups can be matched with a refugee already being resettled to the U.S., or they can sponsor a refugee they already know. Sponsors provide initial assistance and core services for 90 days.

Welcome Corps on Campus

Private sponsor groups of 5 or more welcome a refugee student through the Department of State’s U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. Refugee students are accepted to and enrolled in 2- or 4-year degree programs at participating institutions. Groups provide initial assistance and core services for 12 months.

Sponsor Circle Program

Sponsor Circles of 5 or more welcome newcomers through Department of Homeland Security programs (Uniting for Ukraine, Processes for CHNV). Sponsors provide initial assistance and ongoing supportive services for 180 days.
